Meet Ticia - Salon Owner, Stylist, Creative, and Heart of the Experience
For more than 34 years, Ticia has stood behind her chair with a gift that goes far beyond styling hair. As the owner of Turning Heads Hair Salon for over 29 years, she has created a space where beauty, culture, and genuine connection thrive. Her salon is known not only for exceptional natural hair care, but for an energy that clients describe as grounding, uplifting, and unmatched.
Ticia is a published stylist whose work has appeared in national campaigns and on shelves in Walmart, Target, CVS, and other major retailers. She has collaborated with leading brands including L’Oréal USA, L’Oréal Paris, Carol’s Daughter, Dark & Lovely, Mizani, and many more. Her artistry has been featured at New York Fashion Week, Essence Festival, AfroPunk, CurlFest, and other iconic events. She is formally trained through Ron Thomas and Dudley’s University, and continues to elevate her craft with intention and passion.
But what truly sets Ticia apart is the way she cares for the whole person. She is transparent and knowledgeable in evaluating the health of the hair and scalp, and she has even developed her own line of hair care products to support her clients’ journeys. Her chair is a place where women feel seen, nurtured, and restored. Laughter, tears, empowerment, honesty, and sisterhood all live here. Clients don’t just leave with beautiful hair -they leave with their spirits a little fuller.

Turning Heads hair salon was established in 1997 in Aberdeen, Maryland. From there we’ve relocated to Parkville, Maryland since 2014. Since then we have serviced thousands of clients from near and far.
